The story revolves around a person named Harold Finch who is a mysterious billionaire and a softwear genius. Finch creates a unique softwear for the government that predicts who will be involved in a violent crime. It is also designed as a means to prevent another 9/11 type disaster. Finch hires John Reese as an assistant, a former CIA agent, who is presumed dead. Finch and John Reese strive to prevent the crimes from happening.
