Monk is an American drama series created by Andy Breckman and starring Tony Shalhoub as the title character. Monk is an Emmy Award winning television show about the private detective Adrian Monk. He is a brilliant detective who worked for the San Francisco Police Department until his wife, Trudy, was killed by a car bomb, which Monk believed was intended for him. Monk's compulsive habits are numerous, and an unknown number of phobias compound his situation. The Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and plethora of phobias inevitably lead to very awkward situations and cause problems for Monk.
