The series revolves around a working class Chicago couple who find love at an Overeaters Anonymous meeting. Mike Biggs a police officer who truly wants to lose weight and Molly Flynn a fourth-grade teacher who also wants to shed some pounds both meet and become a couple. This couple have to deal with the comments, jokes, and criticism from Mike's fast-talking partner Carl McMillan, Samuel a sarcastic waiter, Molly's mother Joyce and sexy older sister, Victoria.
