The series revolves around a small but special state task force. The force is created by the Governor of Hawaii and headed by the detective Steve McGarrett. When McGarrett returns home to Oahu to investigate his father's murder and he is convinced to become a team's head by the Hawaii's governor. The mission of the force is to investigate and wipe out the crimes throughout the Islands. McGarrett chooses detective Danny "Danno" Williams as his partner who joins the force in order to keep the island safe for his eight year old daughter. Chin Ho Kelly and Chin's cousin Kono also join the force. While running the team, McGarrett has determined to solve the case of his father's murder.
