The story revolves around a troubled novelist Hank Moody. who blames writer's block which complicates his relationships with his longtime girlfriend Karen and 12-year-old daughter Becca. who is addicted by drinks, drugs and sexy relationships and constantly says no. He tries to show his family that he can be a good, responsible, caring father to his daughter and a monogamous partner to Karen.
