The series revolves around an outspoken opinionated and unapologetic young woman named Chelsea Newman. She has a circle of working-class twenty-something friends at Jerry's Ultimate Sports Bar in New Jersey. The main theme of the series is inspired by Handler's book, which is based on her career in her twenties.
